FABRIC

We use a range of fabrics across our entire line.  From Earth friendly recycled P.E.T. fabrics that reduce waste to burly 420 denier nylons, we choose the right fabric that balances durability, feel, abrasion resistance, tear strength, and performance.  Fabric is an important component of the welded bag manufacturing because it is the barrier between your gear and the element.  We coat our fabrics in house with polyurethane before we weld our products together.  This unique process allows for our bags raw materials to be bonded together at a higher temperature and the creation of a more durable finished product.  Here are some of the special fabrics we use in our welded bag construction.

The Pneumo's, Pnuemo Zips, and Pneumo Window's use this superlight fabric in order stay lightweight, yet durable.  This 33 Denier (D) nylon has a similar weight per yard as many of the sil-nylons that you see in the outdoor marketplace, but instead of using a sil coating, we use an airtight  polyurethane.  The polyurethane allows us to create a long lasting bond and ensures that pad will keep air tight.  This 33 denier is not an ordinary stock fabric, but is milled in Japan and incorporates a Diamond Rip Stop weave.  The raised Diamond Rip Stop threads both deflect sharp points from piercing the bag.

 

The LTW series of panners uses this high performance fabric.  Milled in Japan, this 50 denier recycled P.E.T. fabric is our most eco-friendly, highest performing, and most innovative fabric being used in the bike pannier market.  We identified the amazing attributes of this fabric while working with the Bio Mimicry Institue.  This specific fabric has tensil strenght attributes similar to a spider web, and better UV resistance than similar weighted nylons.  We immediately incorporated it into our high performance sleeping pads and some of our lightweight cycling panniers.  By using this fabric, each pad saves 4 to 16 plastic bottles from the landfill.  Furthermore, the durability is increased by incorporating a Diamond Rip Stop weave (DRS) and align the diamonds on the pannier similar to our Матрацы.  This special measure increases the durability of the bag and the raised Diamond Rip Stop threads both deflect sharp points from piercing the bag.

Pacific Outdoor Equipment uses a range of polyster fabrics because of the verstility in finishes a polyester can provide.  The Adventurer Series of sleeping pads, both Si and AC, use a peached poylester top fabric that enhances the sleeper's comfort removing the need for a "bed sheet" and has anti-slip properties becuase of the soft brushed texture. We use a fabric that has a Square Ripstop on the bottom of these pads to increase the durability and quickly stop a tear in order to provide an easy fix.  The Classic Series of sleeping pads utilize a straight 75 Denier polyester because of its durability over lesser urethane style fabrics and its ease to clean. The polyester fabrics that we choose to work with have a high thread count which increases abrasion resistance and creates a better air tight chamber.  When we design each pad, we have to balance fabric function, value, performance, and the style or type of use demanded from each pad.  Polyesters offer a great range of applications at great value, and we hope to continue to green our fabric choices when the market allows.

 

Expedition Сумки и рюкзаки are made with a mid-weight, but tough 210 Denier nylon.  Coated with polyurethane (PU), we use a high thread count fabric that allows for welding completely air tight Сумки и рюкзаки.  Nylon fabrics are stronger than similar denier polyesters, so, you can trust these bags will last for the long haul.

 

Expedition bags like our duffles, portage packs, and day packs are made with a heavy weight tough 420 Denier nylon.  We have also extended this long lasting fabric into our City line of bike bags, backpacks, and messenger bags.  Although tough and abrasion resistant, this hard core fabric still produces a relatively light bags.  Coated with polyurethane (PU), we use a high thread count fabric that allows for welding completely air tight Сумки и рюкзаки.  Nylon fabrics are stronger than similar denier polyesters, so, you can trust these bags will last for the long haul.
